Electrical & Electronics — Inspection, Installation, and Documentation
Scope
Compliant service covering AC/DC power, panels and breakers, bonding/grounding, and marine electronics—engineered, installed, and documented for safety and reliability.
Panel & Breaker Inspection
- Visual and torque check of terminations; heat scan (as needed) for hot spots.
- Load balance (AC) and voltage-drop checks (DC).
- Breaker sizing vs. wire gauge; ELCI/GFCI operation; polarity tests at shore inlet.
- Battery protection: main fuses within ABYC distance of the bank; clean/tight busbars.
Bonding & Grounding
- Bonding system continuity (green conductors) across thru-hulls, engines, genset, tanks.
- AC safety ground integrity; isolation/galvanic protection (isolation transformer or galvanic isolator).
- Corrosion control: anode strategy and stray-current survey.
Electronics & Electrical Installation

- NMEA 2000/CAN-bus backbone with proper terminators and device power isolation.
- Navigation/comm: radar, AIS, GPS/plotter, autopilot, VHF-DSC; antenna/VSWR checks.
- Clean power: dedicated DC feeds, proper fusing, EMI/RFI mitigation, drip loops and chafe guards.
- Materials: tinned-copper UL-1426 wire, adhesive heat-shrink crimps, labeled harnesses, ABYC color codes.
- AC systems: shore power, inverter/charger, transfer switching, generator interfaces per ABYC E-11.
Testing & Commissioning
- Continuity/insulation tests (megger where appropriate).
- Voltage-drop under load, ripple/charging diagnostics, alternator/BMS integration (AGM/LiFePO₄).
- Functional sea-trial: nav nets, alarms, autopilot/gyro calibration.
Drawings & Documentation
- As-built schematics: single-line and wiring diagrams, panel schedules, breaker directory.
- Labeling updates, parts lists, and maintenance intervals.
- Compliance notes to ABYC E-11 (AC/DC), E-2 (cables), A-28 (galvanic isolators), and NFPA 302.
Result: safer circuits, quieter electronics, clear documentation, and easier troubleshooting—so every voyage starts with power you can trust.
